Vitamins – Any of a group of organic substances essential in small quantities to normal metabolism and health, found in natural foodstuffs and also produced synthetically.
A healthy intake of vitamins can positively affect growth, digestion and nerve function, and help enable your body to use carbohydrates, fats and proteins for energy and repair. On the other hand, minerals are the primary components in teeth and bones, and they serve as building blocks for cells and enzymes. Minerals also help regulate the balance of fluids in your body and control the movement of nerve impulses. In June of 2002, one of the most respected journals in medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, published a comprehensive review of almost 40 years worth of scientific research on the relationship between vitamins and certain diseases. This review, which was conducted by two Harvard researches, clearly illustrates how a vitamin deficiency is associated with chronic diseases such as cancer, coronary heart disease and osteoporosis. The researchers located many studies that prove taking folic acid during pregnancy helps prevent certain birth defects. Folic acid has also been proven to help prevent heart disease and several types of cancer when taken on a regular basis. Regarding the intake of vitamin e, the researchers located evidence that it is an important antioxidant necessary for immune function. They also found that vitamin E has a role in the prevention of heart disease and prostate cancer in some people. Vitamin D and its relation to bone mass appeared in the review as well as supportive evidence for the value of vitamins B6 and B12. Based on these findings and the recognition that Americans are not receiving enough vitamins from their diets, the Harvard researchers recommend that all adults take one multivitamin daily. For some unexplained reason, I would seem to get on the vitamin binge for a while and then quit. Now that I have found a good liquid form of vitamins and essential minerals, I am proud to say that I have consistently taken my daily dosage every day. While taking vitamins and essential minerals in the pill form, there was always a tendency to grow tired of taking so many pills each day. Also, while traveling, there were so many different bottles that I had to carry with me. Now I can get all the necessary vitamins and essential minerals in liquid form which comes in a convenient two ounce bottle. When traveling, I just pack enough two ounce bottles of Vemma™ to last for the entire duration of my time away from home. Somehow it seemed like taking vitamins and essential minerals in the pill form was a burden. Now I actually look forward to having my daily two ounces in liquid form.
